I think that glass blowing is really cool. The fact that they create handmade cabinets knobs, doorknobs and exotic chandeliers is an amazing technique. It is very unique that no two pieces of work will ever exist, all the work is one of a kind. You can also request and create a vision of mind and have the glass blowers create your own personal masterpiece. The process of is highly intensive but certainly worth the long wait to receive the personal glass art.
Custom handmade doorknobs and cabinets are particular unique in the 21st Century. As glass blowers, Martin and Marian Megna have made their business Megna Glass a well-known fame through the Old English technique to creat archigtechual hardware, they've only seen excellence in their work and progress. Over the years, the private business has flourished as Megna Glass has been featured in House Beautiful Magazine, and Architectural Digest Magazine.

The duo moved from Long Beach, New York to furthest out east in Sag Harbor in 1999 and established Megna Glass, designing innovative new products. They specialize in cabinets, doorknobs, orinments and custom lighting. With over variety of 36 colors as an option, customers have the opportunity to create the most immaginative visions that comes to mind.

Martin Megna is an engineer, creating the custom products, as his wife, Marian, is the artist, who sketches the images that Martin excutes through glass blowing. Marian is Martin's assistant and artist. Martin has refurbished a 1960 antique glass press and insist on creating art that is economically and environmentally friendly.

" What I like most, is that glass has been around for two thousands year, that I can come in today in the 21st century and create something that has never been made," said Martin Megna.

The couple works as a team and tries to stay out of each others way. In the morning around 10:00 a.m., they light the equipment up and turn the enealer. Then they then lay the equipment out, open the furnist door, gathers the glass, using a select cheerywood block to mold the glasss and constantly reheating the glass in a glory hole, because if the glass cools they cannot shape it.

Megna Glass installed an 18 foot highs lead crystal and handmade bead curtain spanning over 100 feet across the High Stakes Gaming Area at the Mohegan Sun Casino and Resort in Uncasville, Connecticut.

"I like them because they'll be there long after were gone," said Marian Megna.

Sarah Palin did surprisingly well on SNL. She still is an idiot and she is not going to the White House. P.S. I love Tina Fey~

This was absolutely the best election debate out of the three of them. It was very fiery and fierce. McCain was certainly taking the lead in the beginning of the election by attacking Obama with the"plummer Joe" statements and Obama wrongness with the middle man of the country with higher taxes. However, my man Obama kept his cool as usual and not McCain where it hurt. Obama addressed the issues that are on the mind of all Americans are the economy continues to collapse. He spoke to the people, answering their concerns and worries of the future. Obama delivered a clever and honorable closing speech. I don't think that anyone's mind were changed last night but both candidates certainly made a great impression. OBAMA 08!

Kimberly Dozier came to Stony Brook University to express her experience and survival as a CBS correspondent in Baghdad. The story that she shared with students was moving. It is amazing how after everything she has been through, from the car bombing and lost of her crew she was able to recover mentally and physically. I found her story to truly demonstrate the devotion and love for journalism that one can have. She didn't let death of her friends and the danger of her life stop her from what she loves most.

I found the Los Angeles Times to be very user-friendly. The Times has created a very organized web site, allowing viewers easy access to all the linked stories and topics. The web site is visually appealing, with a variety colors and pictures to draw viewers into the site. The web site certainly has a purpose of discussion of current breaking news and news stories.
The L. A. Times has certainly adjusted to the modern day technology by advancing its site by adding web videos and blogs. The Times has also made registration a simple process for those who wish to sign up. The Times allows readers to customize news to fit their own preference for their homepage.
I do find, however, that the Times has a large selection of entertainment news, with discussions of gossip and celebrity drama. The Times also has a lot of advertisement on its homepage, but it does not clutter the visual aspect of the web site. Overall, the L.A.Times is very accessible, visually appealing to one’s eye, and offers a variety of news coverage, with great photos and videos to add color to stories.
ABC News online, is a great web site overall. It is filled with trendy topics and great accessibility. ABC news on line has a great NAV that offers viewers links to multiple topics with breaking news and strong content. The major content areas that are available for the readers are: the breaking news stories, weather, entertainment, health, law, politics, money and travel. ABC on line is structured in a very simplistic and organized manner. The public is easily able to access information from this website because of it outstanding clarity of subject matter on line. The public is able to get information on these strong content areas each day from this website.
The purpose of this website is to relate television news to a website where typical television viewers can access old news, and videos on line. It is a very interactive website with visual content and discussions within blogs. The website is also visually appealing with large photos and vibrant colors. ABC news on line offers a variety of polling, a direct link to ESPN Sports, and a high quality 2008 Senator Obama versus Senator McCain election coverage. In covering the election, they have included large demographic charts of each candidate, video footage of the debates and an assortment of related topics. What makes this website great is that they allow RSS feeds, pod casts and they allow viewers to send stories to each other. They also outline top headline stories and they offer their viewers the option to customize news that is newsworthy to them
Pod casts have become a great informative interactive tool for the public. People enjoy hearing information disseminated to them via the pod cast. This website allows its readers to navigate through the news in a very simple way. .
The Perez Hilton website is a very attractive website for those who are intrigued by gossip. With over 2 million viewers a day, they are addicted to Hilton’s celebrity news.
The overall presentation of the website is quite disorganized. It is definitely not user friendly. The content of information is not sourced and it is strictly based on one’s opinion and cease to exist as a blog page. The information cited isn’t original and it consumes information from a variety of other publications. This website lacks a NAV.
The Perez Hilton website isn’t visually appealing. There is no substance to the content cited on this website. As one goes on this website, you don’t have any particular direction to go. Everything on this website has no real significance to what is happening in the world today. The purpose of this website is to give commentaries on celebrity news and gossip. People may question the quality of news on this website because it doesn’t deal with everyday local and world news. It is quite difficult to navigate this website. It is somewhat confusing and misleading in the content areas. It doesn’t have any strong content or organization. Yes, it is trendy for one reason. It deals with celebrities and their trendy designs and thoughts. It is original because of its topics on who’s who in the celebrity lime light.
This website could use a total overhaul in making it more appealing to its readers of all ages through greater organization and providing stronger content.

OBAMA VERSUS MCCAIN...

The Race to the White House

Vote Novemeber 4th!

I agree with Barack Obama and his campaign in rejecting Senator John McCain's offer earlier today to suspend the presidential campaigning.

As McCain announced the suspension of his campaign and postponing of presidential debate on Friday, so he can head to Washington to assist in t he world financial crisis. He suggest that Obama do the same, so they can work on the $700 billion bailout bill with Congress.

I am so happy that my darling Obama, has refused McCains offer to postpone. As Obama says, " It's my belief that this is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who in approximately 40 days, will be responsible for dealing with this meess,"according to a news conference where Obama spoke.

I think McCain should leave the worries of the financial bailout to President Bush and those on Capitol Hill to fix the problems on Wall Street.

I think McCain is real fowl for agreeing to making a joint announcement with Obama and then going against his word made his own announcement. ASSHOLE! This was definitely a political stunt that McCain has arrange and will be called out about it.

My First Yankee Game

This past Saturday I attended my first Yankee game. It was the team's second to last home game in the original Yankee stadium.

It was a great game and I had a wonderful times with my boyfriend Kevin, and over 55, 000 Yankee fans.

I had a great eating hot dogs, popcorn, and cotton candy and drinking beers.

The score was 0-0 and in the 9th inning and one out, Yankees had the bases loaded and Giambi hit, which got them a home run, and the Yankee's won the game! YIPPEE!

I look forward my next game at the new stadium and wish them the best of luck in the season...

LET'S GO YANKEES!

Election day on the way

I think it is great how the general public is reaching out to one another in this election. They are stressing the importance of having a voice and being heard. It is very important that everyone register and vote, because every vote matters, and one's vote can determine the winner of the election. Obama and McCain both hold a strong chance at winning. But Obama hold the youth vote. And with the advancement in technology student have great access to registering and voting through the internet and text messsaging

Today at Stony Brook University, journalism students in JRN 350, Principles of Editing attacked the journalism staff. The students were in rage with the overwhelming amount of work that is required for a 300 level course.

Students protested not to complete the assignments and demanded a nap time during class. Classmate Adam Peck said that he cannot think is a hard course like JRN 350, he needs food to nurish his mind.

BARACK OBAMA O8

McCain-Palin campaign tactics suck

I find it to be very interesting, how McCain stated in the early days of the election that this would be a clean, non-slander, respectful election, and now he has created several nasty commericials after Barak Obama. He is a total hypocrite. He says one thing and than does another. If he is president will he change his mind that quickly? I feel that McCain and his campaign party have really demoralized the campagining process of this election and have really gone overboard with attacks on Barak Obama and Joe Biden. McCain is a real sucker for taking things out of context. And the acquisations made that Obama was referring to Palin when he made the comment about "putting lipstick on a pig, it is still a pig" was wrong. It is definetely time for Obama and his campaign to fight back. They've taken the nice way in the election but is McCain wants to play with fire, then bring it on, because he is playing with fire and is going to get burned. OBAMA 08

This weekend

Well, all I can say was this weekend was a lot of fun. Friday I interned at News 12 Long Island. I was out in the field with a reporter covering  a story. I learned several things being out in the field. After I go off, I went to happy hour with my boyfriend, roommate and her boyfriend.  We had a great time. We came back to our apartment and played taboo and drank beers. Saturday was cleaning day.  My roommate and I cleaned out entire apartment and then I watched movies all night. Sunday I got a manicure and pedicure and drove home to have lunch with my parents and do a little shopping. I then went home to watch the VMA's and sleep.
